Famous Original Ray`s Pizza in New York City

They have some scam going. No regular pizza at $3.25 so you order a specialty slice at 6.00...2 slices are over $13.00. Guy at counter rushes you so you can't think straight. The pizza is ice cold and the workers are nasty. AVOID AT ALL COST!!! There are so many better places and word to the owner...you are getting ripped off by your "employees". 1 for you, 2 for me.

Expensive. The paper plate size is smaller than than the pizza portion. Risk of some portion falling off. Taste no different from any other pizza outlet.

It's a great experience if you want a cheap slice near Times Square. It's not bad. However, bring your tums because you're definitely going home with heartburn!

It was okay a little pricey for a Slice but does the job for a quick bite.

It was okay. Like for a slice in Times Square at midnight I can't complain too much, but I would be highly disappointed during the day. Service was slow, and the white pizza had little flavor

My son and I must go here every time we visit the city!! We literally eat here everyday we’re there and miss it when we are back in Los Angeles. Get the Ray’s pizza or the pepperoni... SO DELISH!!!

Pizza was amazing. If you want a local's choice best slice in town, this is it! But if 3 slices costs $26, then hire someone to clean the dining area during busy times. Not the restaurants fault about how horribly people treat places, but at least have someone to tend to it, wipe tables in between customers, empty the trash can so it's not in piles everywhere. If you dont care about all that and want the whole NY pizza experience, this is the place!

This was our first trip to NYC and our first experience with real New York pizza. I've heard about how incredible it is, but when we had these huge slices in front of us and tasted the exquisite blend of crust, sauce, cheese and toppings, I can't imagine being satisfied with any other pizza. I had the Hawaiian pizza and hubby had a meat lovers blend. I couldn't finish one slice and took home. It was delicious the next day. We brought for our daughter and she's ready for a trip there, just for the pizza. Thank you for such a great culinary experience. We'll make sure to stop next time we're in the City.

Famous Ray's has been around for years. I used to go here in the 80s. Something happened to this place. Pizza is half the size and place is always over crowded. Still good pizza.

Good pizza. Not sure where it went for the photo... SCAM maybe going on as they have no $3 slices only the $6 specialty ones so your forced to spend $13 on two slices. No one is going to wait 15 min for you to make one slice of cheese pizza...

Quite literally my favorite pizza in all of the world. I never make a trip to NYC without stopping for a slice. It’s usually my first stop after checking into my hotel. I even had the chance to meet Famous Ray on my last trip into town, and it was such a highlight!!

Good ok. Very little space to eat. Saw exposed cables with lots of dust. Family friendly

SCAM SCAM SCAM alert! No cheese slices for $3 as advertised! The rude guy taking my order said it'd be 20 minutes for 4 slices, I agreed. Then he said it might be 25 or 30 minutes, again I agreed (nothing like fresh pizza!). He shrugged his shoulders and said ok. I get to the register, he speaks in Arabic to her and then she says I cant pay for the 4 cheese slices because she doesnt know when it'll be made. I told her I'm fine with waiting but I want to pay now, she says no, but I can order a medium pizza. I said how long to make she said 10 minutes. I said how does a medium pizza take 10 minutes but 4 slices will be over 30 minutes, she moved on to the next person in line!

Out of the four pizza places I've tried in NY, hands down, Famous Original Ray's was the best one! Fast service and a deliciously hot and crispy slice of pepperoni and sausage pizza, followed later on by a Nathan's hot dog, was a delicious way to end our NY adventures in the culinary spector until the next time we visit 😁

I love all the options for pizza! It's great for grabbing a quick slice before seeing a show on Broadway. If they had drink selections other than just Pepsi it would be 5 stars, but I don't drink Pepsi ever.

Great place, great food and open pretty late. The middle aged with the attitude behind the counter, is my only gripe

Its been my experience, that they deliver exactly what I've ordered. Be picky. Be specific. Because you'll receive exactly what you order n you'll love it.

This place is a scam. They sell regular pizza at the price of the special pizza and they type it quickly at the counter so you wouldn't see it. There are no $3 slices (as advertised on menu), they charge every piece at 6.50. 4 slices totaled $30.

The pizza was awesome. I got the buffalo chicken with ranch. The slices are decently sized as well. The only thing I didn't like was the cramped and limited seating, but hey you have to get used to that when you're in NYC.

So good. I had pizza in town Square and I was mad about it. But now that I've eaten this I'm so happy. This is the New York pizza everyone is trying to be like but it's right here and better.

Solid budget pizza near times square area. Ordered 4 pies around 11PM. They close up shop at midnight. The staff was friendly. The employees gave us extra napkins, plates and cups.

A great pizza at 330a. When your hungry after a long day. I enjoyed my pizza. My friend left her wallet and they pit aside for her until she came for it the next morning. Great employees!

We order three types buffalo bbq n three cheese the bbq was the best however not worth 6 dollars plus two drink it was almost $30.. too expensive for pizza!!

Great Pizza! We got a slice of Hawaiian and a slice of bacon chicken. Even though they were really busy we got in and out quickly. We just ate the pizza standing outside. This is the first of many pizza places I plan on trying while here in NYC!

Not the best pizza in Manhattan, but it's good, legitimate NY Pizza. Don't know why some people are complaining about the prices--they're competitive with other places in the neighborhood.

You tell me how I spend $18 on one slice of pizza and three drinks?

The location is awesome, but there's no much room where you can sit. They have plenty of options of pizza, from 3 USD (which apparently they've always run out) to 7 USD, the ones that they usually have are on that price. As every single place in NY you have to hurry, the person who asks you what would you have is always rushing. I had the meat lovers and it was good. The base is thin and no so crusty. It's a good option for a quick meal, really near times square.

So many great pizza places in times square it's hard to even rank them since they're all good and different. Ray's is on par with the rest. Worth a stop.

My Wife and I were on the back end of a trip in December, we stopped by Ray’s and were completely blown away. The Pizza was cooked wonderfully and had the best service , making our visit memorable. I told a co worker who was in Times Square to visit Ray’s and he said it was amazing and bought a whole pie to Take home. In my life Ray’s will go down as the Best Pizza I have ever eaten .. Thank You very much

This is a must stop for us on every trip to New York City –it’s the best pizza in town! We are absolutely in love with a white pizza! Pick this pizza shop first before you try anything else. It was a pleasure to meet the owner tonight explain how he came from Italy and has been at the shop since 1964. Enjoy yourself a pizza pie today we are taking this home for our family and employees

They had excellent crust along wi TV fast pace service that made a decent day into a great one.

Ray’s is a NYC staple with lots of pizza choices. Price is a little higher than the dollar shops out there, but their quality of pizza has a nice authentic NYC pizza taste. Friendly staff and clean restaurant. Close to Times Square. It is an easy place to take out from if you are staying in a nearby hotel.

this was our first time ordering from Ameci and i have to say it was great.We always order from Pizza Man but last 3 times iv had to call them with some kinda problem so i think its safe to say from now on this is our new place. I hope the food and service stays the same.Keep it up Ameci

Wanted to order a regular cheese slice and was told there is no cheese pizza and we should order one of the others (all of them were meat pizza's and I am vegetarian). The guy behind the counter was very rude and didn't even want to serve us initially. Found another great place - rather try Famiglia for their pizza.

Pizza was ok for the price. The store itself was chaotic. I asked to buy one of the large pizzas and was told I couldn't because it was for the store. Some staff were kind but the older man was pretty rude.

Horrible horrible service. Delivery was 45 minutes late, it was cold (not even warm) when we received it. When I called to let them know he got angry and told me to order somewhere else.

I went here to have my first actual New York slice of pizza, and ended up eating four of them. every single one of them was an amazing new flavor

I had a slice of 3-cheese pizza with a root beer. It was slightly over $10. The crust was perfect. It had a great crunch with a soft inside. The consistency was perfect. The cheeses on the pizza were really delicious and tasted fresh. The pizza was hot and the cheese was melty! The service was quick and staff was wonderful. They welcomed me immediately when I walked in. My order was prompt and accurate. I’m a vegetarian and didn’t try the meat, but the appearance of the meat slices was definitely appetizing. The restaurant was filled with patrons and had a steady flow of customers at 11 am. I would definitely eat here again and recommend my friends to come here!

It’s was basically empty (Monday night) when I went with my friend, the pizza was really good, the price is not as usual as if you buy it in the street but the taste worth it.

Gotta say, these days there are about a zillion places that one can zip in and out of for a quick bite--a slice of the NYC city-eat: pizza 🙃! And, yeah, there's some gourmet this and some fancy that, but "famous" and "original" Ray's, regardless of the competition and the years going by, remains a sure-fire, absolutely consistent means of getting the pizza compulsion relieved: One Slice at a Time!!!

Fresh ingredients, great crust. The pizza is always hot and delicious. Plus their Philly Cheese steak is awesome. Always a wait but damn well worth it !!

Slices are over priced... $6.53 a slice!! Spent almost $30 on 4 slices, oh, and that's without drinks!!! Their pizza is good, but not great. There are other pizza joints in the area and aren't as pricey and taste so much better. If you're on a budget, don't bother going, it's not worth it. Another tourist trap taking advantage of their fame and location. Definitely will not return.

The pizza was great. We ordered 4 slices of pizza, a bottle of water, a salad and a soda. $48.00😡. When I asked how much was a slice, he said 6.50 and he walked away. Sign says 3.50. They push you right through the line. I'm sure they over charge a lot of people as and just blow it off. Poor customer service. Will not recommend.

Here’s the thing about this pizza spot. It’s very much a New York pizza spot. It’s right off Times Square so it’s filled with tourists, staff is overworked (probably underpaid) and straight forward, and most important the pizza is delicious. They’re open late and serve up hot authentic New York slices. The toppings are slightly generous. The crust is delicious and crisp. The clientele is annoying. Everything is delicious and perfectly a New York Times Square experience. Keep your wits about you but swinging through on a night of drinking is exactly what you need to sober up a bit.

This spot is worth a try. They serve big portions for fair prices. Regularly clean and with fantastic atmosphere. Highly recommended.
